Overview of scholarly research/creative activity: CEESMO is an interdisciplinary research unit that focuses on the Earth and its systems. Scientific areas include natural hazards such as wildfires, severe weather, floods, air pollution, and earthquakes, and the changing Earth climate and its impacts on agriculture, economic factors, the atmosphere, and oceans.
Specific projects working on: Earthquake Monitoring
Research in earthquake signal observations and monitoring by detecting the anomalies of emitted signals from the different geospheres in the near-space with a web of multiple satellites.
Number of students looking to work with: 1-2
Time commitment for students: Around 10 hours to project/week
When students are needed: Fall 2021, Interterm, Spring, and Summer 2022
Requirements for students who work with you: Python or other program language
What would students be expected to do: Supporting researchers developing machine learning models and other types of models.
