Aspects of a Writer Project: The Writing Life Plan

Self-Promotion

What Is Self-Promotion?

When it comes to being an author and operating in a creative field, the need to reach an audience is paramount. And much of that work falls on the shoulders of the creative - this is where self-promotion comes in.

Self-promotion is where you as the creator are the one reaching out to a potential audience and advocating for yourself, your work, and your skills. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways. The most traditional being during the job search - creating a compelling CV or resume and cover letter.

An author website is another common component of self-promotion in this field. This website can be very simple or extremely complex depending on the time and effort you are willing to put into it.

With the rise of digital technology, social media has become a driving force behind a lot of self-promotion. As a creator, you need to be able to be found and social media is an easy way to do that. Social media sites such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook are extremely popular and great places for self-promotion of yourself and your work.
