Codex Chapman

Shield with Wind Emblem

On the right side of Quetzalcoatl is a circular object with a striped square sticking out. Since the item to his left is a hat, this item must also be an integral part of his regalia, which in this case is a shield. On the shield is an emblem that looks like a cloud. Knowing that Quetzalcoatl is the god of wind, one can assume that this emblem is a wind form. Like the ruler glyphs, regalia was also an identifying feature of individuals based on the materials, colors, and signs incorporated into the clothing.
