1media/2017.9.2.jpg2021-04-20T23:39:07+00:00Color Farm Study3plain2021-04-27T23:04:04+00:00 LISA SANDITZ’S COLOR FARM STUDY (2010) explores the relationship between natural landscapes and commercialism by re-imagining an industrial landscape in Florida that tests the durability of colored plastics. Sanditz explains: “I happened upon a laboratory in swampy southern Florida that tested the lightfast and weatherproof attributes of many household and industrial materials. There were acres of tables containing a multitude of colors and materials.” Each small, bright geometric shape contrasts the muddied and mottled green background suggesting the toxicity in the relationship between nature and industry. This is a small study on paper for Color Farm, a larger painting currently on display in the Keck Center for Science and Engineering.
