Overview of scholarly research/creative activity: Dr. Wen’s research focus on Big data analysis, machine learning and statistical modeling for quality improvement, prognostics in complex systems with the applications in manufacturing, aerospace, healthcare, and traffic, etc.
Specific projects working on: Current projects under investigation include (1) Aircraft engine fault detection, diagnostics and prognostics through degradation data driven modeling; (2) Deep learning framework design for detection of COVID-19 and severity assessment using chest X-Ray images.
Number of students looking to work with: 1-2
Time commitment for students: Meet at least once per week depends on the needs, expected 5-10 hours commitment to project / week
When students are needed: Spring 2021, Summer 2021
Requirements for students who work with you: experience in machine learning or data analytics or has taken at least two mathematical courses.
What would students be expected to do: literature review/summary, statistical modeling, algorithm design, programming.
