Overview of scholarly research/creative activity: Founded in 2015, Chapman University’s Thompson Policy Institute (TPI) on Disability strives to impact policy and practice by engaging in research that focuses on reducing barriers that limit access to learning, living and working, and the pursuit of enviable lives.
Specific projects working on: TPI research focuses primarily on inclusive education and transition to enviable adult lives. We do this first and foremost by centering the voices and experiences of individuals with disabilities and their families while recognizing the importance of connecting with stakeholders including educators, the medical community, and policy-makers. The main research projects available at TPI are associated with quantitative analysis using extant data to explore issues of access and equity across California, and qualitative and mixed-methods research associated with inclusive practices, educator preparation, and transition planning.
