Overview of scholarly research/creative activity:
CCI faculty investigate the principle of creativity, including how creative thinking is used to solve problems, communicate complex ideas, and explore new ways of working in the arts and humanities. We explore industries such as fashion, film and television, music, museums, performing arts, publishing, and tourism.
Specific projects working on:
Kelli Fuery is currently completing an edited collection titled 'Film Phenomenologies', which examines aspects of time, embodiment and transformation within our film experience. Her chapter for this anthology is titled 'The Precarious Intimacy of Screened Abortion'. She is also writing an article on Euripides's Medea and Alice Diop's contemporary cinematic retelling Saint Omer (2022); and a piece titled 'Choric Sounds: The Intervention of Women's Voices in the City and Cinema.' Her next planned book-length project is titled 'Bizarre Objects,' which explores the interconnected themes of hallucination, trauma, and memory with our use of media objects, as well as their narrative and aesthetic representation.
Patrick Fuery is working on a monograph investigating phenomenology and the psychoanalysis of dreams. He is also creating a book series dedicated to exploring various CCIs for popular audiences (e.g. Google, Disney, Apply, Condé Nast). He is working on an international collaboration with universities and CCIs in the UK and Europe on creative place-making and digital media.
