Overview of scholarly research/creative activity: I've always been interested in economics as a way to create win-win solutions that leave everyone better off. I also enjoy science fiction and thinking about how technology impacts society. Now I apply those dispositions to studying AI, automation, and social networks (on and offline).
Specific projects working on: Two areas I'm currently focused on include:
Understanding how individuals and companies get value from using social media and their other digital connections, to better understand demand for these platforms, inform managerial strategy, and improve anti-trust policies.
Modelling the long-run macroeconomic effects of automation and skill-biased technical change using neoclassical and agent-based approaches.
