At first glance, this work is undoubtedly very conceptual. You can't understand the work immediately. Even if you stand in front of the work and look at it, you need to spend a lot of time thinking. The tone is pink, very comfortable, gentle and broad-minded. Pink is often used as the color of women. Although people try to change this concept with the feminist movement and the promotion of gender equality, the fact is that pink is still the color of women's gentle image. Judie Bamber kind of played with this concept a bit, gradually changed into goose yellow on the upper layer on the basis of pink, raised the comfort of the viewers, and then surprised people by adding a black dot in the middle of the painting. This corresponds to the title if you come any closer I will kill you. Although the base of the painting is comfortable and gentle, the black dot in the middle seems to warn people not to be deceived by perceptual cognition. This unbalanced sense is only changed by one stroke.
So I decided to create a product/graphic design/new object. First of all, it's fun. My first thought was to make "I'll kill you if you come near
again" into a T-shirt or hoodie. Since everyone wears clothes every day, hoodies and hoodies are something Americans wear for leisure. First of all, this souvenir is sure to sell well; Second, the art is worn by the human body, which changes the relationship between the painting and your flesh. At first I wanted to fit the title of the artwork, "I'll kill you if you come near again," so all I could think of were weapons and sharp threats. But many of them didn't fit into "everyday" and "presentation mode," so I passed. Then I thought of everyday
objects, such as diaries, key chains and so on. Finally, I thought of clothes, and I found it would be interesting to make clothes out of the
pattern of this painting.When I made the pattern into the dress, I thought if I could get the pink gradient to come out, that would be the finishing touch. Before I wanted to put the black dot in the heart position, but after being reminded and started thinking, I decided to no longer be constrained, but to play the uneasy and uncomfortable feeling in Judie Bamber's painting to the extreme. Therefore, the black spots in the middle will be placed in the same area according to the original proportion of the painting. If possible, the black spots can be sewn with a needle and thread, rather than simply printing (because the printed ones will fade from washing clothes). At the same time, the neckline of the hoodie will be small, which is inspired by the discomfort I usually feel when wearing a hoodie -- the collar and the hat wrap around my neck, which makes me feel uneasy and unable to relax. That's what I wanted, so the end result is that the person wearing the dress is uncomfortable, and the person looking at the dress is also uncomfortable. How fun!
