Earning an MFA degree makes a person qualified to teach in community colleges across the nation and to become an adjunct professor at a four-year university. A teaching credential is not required like it would be if a person wanted to teach in a K-12 school. Teaching in higher education can be a good day job for a writer. Some obvious benefits include things like: These benefits offer stability for a writer while also allowing them time to actually accomplish their writing. Make no mistake however, teaching is not an easy job and is not a career that should be treated as lesser than a career as a full-time writer.
