Charles White Inspired Portrait

My piece titled George Flloyd, created digitally to mimic the style of Charles Whites style of Portraiture in which he explored during the late 1940’s and 50’s. This style of portraiture explores a strong emphasis on contrast within skin tone, highlighting the darkest and lightest tones. The art created by Charles White celebrates black culture and commemorates black heroes. Through this digital piece, I attempted to mimic similar line strokes such as the present cross hatching used within his pieces, the emphasis of light and dark as well as the dramaticized features such as the nose, lips and blurred eyeballs. To the right are pieces that I used as inrpiration for this recreation and commemoration of Flloyd using White’s style.
